Getting started

A guide for someone who wants to build cabinets with Darzsaz — not for someone who wants to read its code. The app opens in the browser and, after the first visit, works without internet: https://rezajax.github.io/darzsaz/?lang=en-US

Before anything: four measurements to take

Without these, everything the software tells you is a guess:

Wall width at three heights: floor, countertop height, wall-cabinet height. Walls are not parallel; enter the smallest number.
Height of the existing countertop, if you have to meet something.
From the cut shop: the kerf and their sheet size.
From the appliance manuals: dishwasher width, cooktop cutout size, space under the cooktop.

The third and fourth directly change how many sheets you buy.

A new project

On the home page, New → one of the templates (straight, L-shaped, U-shaped) with the wall length. Or open the sample kitchen first to see what it looks like. If your wall is a different size, change the cabinet widths so they add up to the wall — or change the wall itself in the plan (key 4) and add a corner wall.

A photo of the wall (optional but useful)

Photo in the top bar → give it a photo of the wall:

put the four handles on the corners of something whose size you know
enter the real width and height of that rectangle
in the Obstructions tab, click every socket, gas valve and flue

Obstructions you record here raise a warning if a cabinet lands on them later, and a render can sit on the same photo.

The first time

The first time the editor opens, a short tour shows its parts. You can replay it from the Help menu at any time.

Units stay in millimeters in English too: converting to inches means rounding errors on something that gets cut.
